Questions
Does whiteout remove text?
No. Whiteout covers content, but the text underneath is still in the file and can be copied. To remove it permanently, use Redact: the text and image content under the box are deleted from the file.
Can I change the existing text?
Yes. Choose Edit text and click a paragraph. Your new words replace the original in the file (copying or searching the result finds the new text). The text is saved in the closest standard font: a serif, sans-serif or monospaced face in the same size, weight and colour. Scanned pages have no text to edit; cover them with whiteout and add new text.
How is Redact different from whiteout?
Redact deletes the text and image content under the box from the file and draws black over it. Whiteout only covers content. If something under a redaction cannot be removed, you are told before you share the file.
Are my edits saved if the tab closes?
Yes. Unsaved edits are kept in this browser for up to 24 hours and offered back when you return.
